Popular Opinion vs God's Opinion

We know that we can't trust the mainstream news media any longer for accurate news. We have to dig for our news if we want the truth. Getting it from as close to the source as possible is always best. We know that we can't trust google or facebook for the truth about what's popular, for they control searches and what's "trending" with their algorithms that fit their agenda and opinion.

However, how important is it for us to know what's popular? As Christians, we don't follow what's popular, we follow what's right. Even in America, we are a republic, not a democracy. We do what's right, not what's popular. Our quest should be for truth and to know what God is saying so we can pray and proclaim His will to be done in the earth as it is in Heaven.

God warns us of the dangers of following the crowd. I'm reminded of a dream I had where there was a great deception that came to deceive many people. We could no longer judge who had the truth by outward appearance. We had to be led by God's Spirit or we wouldn't know who to trust.  (Read the Oak Tree Dream here). Jesus said to go through the narrow gate, not the wide, popular gate, in order to find life. (Matthew 7:13-14). And Micaiah, a prophet of God, prophesied the opposite of 400 prophets and turned out to be right. It was because he spent time in the presence of the Lord, rather than with the other prophets who were hanging out with the king. (1 Kings 22).

The short film Chicken Little which was produced by Disney in 1943, is a very simple, but effective explanation of how the masses can be convinced to believe something ridiculous. (Today that would mean things like gender choice, climate change, free speech zones, open borders etc). The masses had no idea of the sinister plot behind the accusations.
