Week 32

Judges 7:2. Gideon’s army.

The Midianites prevailed against Israel for 7 years and continually destroyed their produce and livestock. This happened because they did evil in the sight of the Lord. The Lord appeared to Gideon and told him to take down the altar of Baal and the Asherah. Gideon did and then gathered an army of people. However the Lord told him they were too many. If He defeated the Midianites for them they would boast and think it was their own power that did it. God had Gideon put them through a test and he was left with an army of 300. God delivered Israel from the Midianites with this small army. Lord, we know we don’t need many people when You are with us!

<

"The Lord said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give Midian into their hands, for Israel would become boastful, saying, ‘My own power has delivered me.’"
